Insert Molding
Spectrum offers full capabilities in insert molding and micro insert molding, starting with manual loading of metal inserts for conventional, hydraulic and vertical shuttle press molding. Operator assisted, semi-automated loading of multiple part strips using offline loading fixtures is used in many tight tolerance, mid-range volume applications. Automated insert in a continuous reel-to-reel molding process is used when high volume precision molding is required.
Insert molding provides customers with a lower cost alternative to other manufacturing methods by reducing assembly and labor and increases product reliability as parts are secured tightly into thermoplastic to provide added strength by consolidating parts. Our micro insert molding capabilities extend those benefits even further, from electronic sub assemblies, to complex components, even implantable assemblies for medical applications.
Spectrum has considerable experience in developing new product designs, as well as transferring existing tooled programs. We will support you on your easiest part configurations to the most complex moldable geometries. With our in-house plastic CNC machining capabilities, we can even provide solutions to save tooling expense or to create non-moldable geometries.
