Unmanned Vehicle Systems
Whether it’s Land, Sea, or Air - Spectrum Plastics Group has been working on unmanned systems from the beginning. From the handheld tactical computer housing and controller on through wing tips that go through multiple secondaries which include machining, EMI shielding, MIL Spec painting and assembly on through a handful of custom cast urethane parts for wind tunnel testing - there isn’t much we haven’t been involved with.
Example: Did you know that some of the engineered resins that we use today have a similar coefficient of thermal expansion as the overlaid composite skins which allows for wing rib conversions from hand layups to injection molding? By replacing an aluminum bulkhead with a molded plastic, we have seen a 30% reduction in weight, allowing the user to add additional payload, saving both time and money! It’s results like these that our clients have come to rely on to deliver, project after project.
By understanding the process one goes through when designing a new system with a set budget or upgrading an old system to the next “rev”, Spectrum Plastics Group has the capabilities and processes in place to support your program – on time and on budget. For programs as critical as unmanned systems, you can count on the experts at Spectrum Plastics Group.
