SLA Finish Levels
The following are the most common finish levels available for Stereolithography models. For more information please download our RP Information packet, and ask your RP Estimator for clarification, and to recommend the best finish level for your application.
Our "E" or engineering finishes are perfect when you need parts that will be used for form and function testing.
Our "A" or appearance finishes are our premier finishes used for show models and masters for urethane castings.
E2 - Quickproof
Our fastest and least expensive SLA offering. A fast, lower cost model with minimal finishing. This finish level includes support removal, measuring it to ensure dimensional accuracy, and secure packaging. The reduced level of finishing means we can usually ship next day.
E3 - FUNCTIONAL
Our E3 functional finish in addition to the steps described for QuickProof, the E3 functional SLA receives an engineering level of finish, which includes additional finishing on the exterior surfaces and media blast finish or matte spray for a consistent finish.
E4 - CLEAR
The E3 Functional Finish is taken to another level with additional sanding, then a clear spray coating is applied to all exterior surfaces of your model. The result is a glossy surface, and the model will be transparent if a clear SLA resin was used, however some build lines will be present through the clear coating, as this finish level does not include a full polishing. This is the lowest cost approach when you want to be able to see through your SLA models.
A5 - PAINT READY
The ultimate in cosmetic quality. All exterior cosmetic surfaces are completely sanded, primered, ready for paint, for a truly “show quality” SLA model. And, we can also provide custom color matching, painting and graphics application services.
A6 - CLEAR
For clear resins, this option is the best for clarity. We can gloss spray coat or hand polish the parts, and the result is a pristine, “show quality” surface on both sides of the model.
